数据中心运行的设备中也广泛采用了电池技术,以便更好地实现设备功能。华为就发布了一款具有类似功能的数据中心网络设备,这也是业界第一款具有内置蓄电池的交换机。

  电池已广泛应用于各行各业中,大到航空设备,小到手机、电话,都需要使用电池,我们的生活早已离不开电池。电池从诞生到现在走过了一百多年的历史,是一种非常古老的技术。早在1859年,法国科学家勒克朗谢以锌为负极,以二氧化锰为正极,以“氯化铵”为电解液,成功研制出现代干电池的原型,一直到今天这种干电池仍有广泛的使用。当然技术发展到今天,电池的种类也越来越多,如干电池、蓄电池、燃料电池、太阳能电池、温差电池、锂电池、核电池等,随着科技的进步,相信还会有新的电池品种不断地研制出来。不管是哪种电池,发展到什么程度,区别仅仅在于产生电能的方式不同,其作用都是相同的,最终都是通过电池为外界设备提供稳定的电能。

  数据中心行业近些年发展很快,数据中心机房的设备承载压力逐渐扩大,高频开关电源、不间断电源等电源设备的数量也随之急剧增加,从而使得蓄电池得到了广泛的应用,在数据中心里蓄电池的应用非常普及。通常,蓄电池被作为数据中心的备用电源使用,在数据中心停电时作为应急电源使用。蓄电池和普通电池相比,不是一次性的用品,可以反复充放电使用,不过随着使用次数的增加,持续供电的时间会缩短。除此之外,数据中心运行的设备中也广泛采用了电池技术,以便更好地实现设备功能,下面我们来着重谈谈数据中心设备中的电池秒用。

  笔记本电脑内置的锂电池可以让笔记本在没有外界输入电源的情况下,持续正常工作数个小时,这为用户使用提供了很大方便,即使在使用过程中出现断电,内置的电池也可以立即接管工作,保证笔记本持续运行。华为就发布了一款具有类似功能的数据中心网络设备,这也是业界第一款具有内置蓄电池的交换机。数据中心几乎都要求业务全年不间断运行,网络设备的断电意味着业务的中断和经济的损失,由于UPS电源设备价格昂贵,不可能给数据中心所有设备都配备UPS电源,这样往往意外的供电中断都会给数据中心带来损失。由于蓄电池技术早已趋于成熟,价格越来越便宜,这让蓄电池在数据中心里可以更好地发挥作用。在没有电力、供电不稳定、搭建临时应急网络等情况下,这款网络设备有了用武之地。采用蓄电池增加的成本对于整个网络设备而言,可以忽略不计,所以在一些重要的数据中心,考虑到成本因素,采用带有内置蓄电池的网络设备是一个很好的选择。

  除了给设备供电,电池当然有更多的妙用。很多数据中心设备的功能要通过安装电池才能实现,最好说明的一个功能就是设备的运行日期。当我们将设备时间设置完成后,即使将设备断电几个月再次开启时时间仍是准确的,这样在设备断电情况下仍能保持设备运行时间记录的功能就是靠电池完成的。一般在设备内部会安置一个时钟芯片,这个时钟芯片可以采用内置电源供电也可以采用外置电池供电,通过电池来保持时钟芯片的正常运行,当再次开启设备时就可以获取到正确的时间,一般这种电池可以正常工作10年,属于一次性用品,使用时间要大大高于设备的使用寿命。还有不少高端的设备要记录很多详细的设备运行信息,以便可以为使用者供分析使用,尤其是在设备出现故障后仍可以通过这些信息查找故障原因,这就像是飞机的“黑匣子”一样,而很多的电子器件都是在断电后记录的信息就会消失,因此对这些电子器件增加一个锂电池,通过锂电池给供电,保证记录的重要信息不会丢失。

  在一些设备上由于整个设备输入通常是220V的交流市电,但是设备上很多的功能器件要使用的电只有几伏,并且需要的电压都不同,要想让这些功能正常工作,需要经过多次的电能转换,比如大型空调设备的电子显示屏,设备旁挂的可以通话的电话筒,数据中心机房内的应急照明灯等,都需要单独的电池给这些功能器件供电。还有很多移动便携的设备,比如万用表、电子示波器、温度计、湿度计、电笔等等,这些都可以通过电池来供电保证正常工作。由此可见,电池在数据中心设备里应用相当广泛。

  电池在数据中心里得到了广泛使用,这是因为数据中心里绝大部分都是需要供电的电子设备,并且对业务的可持续性要求很高,这样就特别需要电池作为备用供电源或者长期供电源。当然,大量的使用电池也存在不少风险。有些电池一旦出现故障,内部的电解液若流出容易造成外围器件的短路,锂电池长期暴露在不良环境中容易出现表面氧化,引起供电失效,也容易给周边器件带来故障。蓄电池的供电能力随着充放电次数的增加,供电时间逐渐缩短,以至于最后无法正常供电。还有一些新的电池技术,由于技术积累不完善,出现故障后经常给使用设备带来灾难性的后果。总之,电池有好的一面,也还有差的一面,也不能一味地在数据中心里大批量使用电池,一般而言,对于一些大中型设备,内部无论采用哪种电池,使用三个或三个以下为宜,这样减少过多使用电池的风险点。对于小型设备,建议使用一个电池或者不使用为宜,有些功能比不得已需要通过电池供电来完成,则需要综合评估引入电池的风险,以设备运行稳定性为前提,有条件地进行电池的选择,这时要注意选择使用正确的电池类型,通过合理的使用电池,将为设备添加更多的功能。电池在数据中心设备上的妙用也会越来越多。
