9月15日，本世纪最强台风“山竹”从菲律宾北部登陆，造成极大破坏后，又登陆广东，所到之处一片狼藉，对建筑、工业、交通运输等方面造成了重大的影响。台风过后，中国移动深圳5G试验网，经历了登陆强度14级，瞬间实测风速41米/秒的台风，在坂田园区的12个采用Massive MIMO技术大天线的5G基站安然无损，屹立如初。
